Being Hard on Ourselves – Session 3

Here we are again looking into Beating Up on Ourselves. This is the third in the series covering this theme. I hope you find this video helpful and I apologize that it’s out of sync in the beginning. I’ve been working with my IT person and so far, it’s not changing. The good news is, it gets better as the video goes on.

Oh… the beautiful imperfection in it all. That elusive group called “They” says that the Beauty is in the Imperfections, so I’m going with this.

The ways we’re hard on ourselves are often so subtle, so it would makes sense that the way through this is to notice the little wins we have each day. The founder of the Brazilian Butt Lift says, “A little win is a big win.” I like this. It’s a great way for us to start looking at ourselves and thus shift our personal perception, by noticing the little ways we do things well.

If we begin to catch ourselves using Should Statements, like “I should have done this. I should have done that. I shouldn’t have done this or that” these statements are great indicators that we’re being hard on ourselves. In other words, we’re telling ourselves we should be different than we are, and that’s never a win.

Self-acceptance really is the key. The more we can notice the subtle and not so subtle ways we lack self-acceptance, the better. Believe it or not, if we can notice our lack of self-empathy and then remind ourselves that these are what we call Tail-enders in EFT, the “Yeah, but statements” and there are many other versions of this, the more we have a roadmap as to what we need to tap on.

Next time you catch yourself telling yourself you should have done it differently; instead of getting discourage, try getting excited, because now you have a guide as to what you need to tap on. This is the best way to free ourselves; to notice where we’re out of sync with ourselves, just like at the beginning of this video and then tap and essentially relieve ourselves of being hard on ourselves and return to synchronicity. (Just like this video.)

If this speaks to you, please tap along with the video included.
Warmly,
Marti
