A Fist Full of Doubt – The Killer of Dreams
It’s been said that doubt will kill a dream faster than anything.
Living through my own doubts has prompted me to do my upcoming EFT Radio Show on doubt. I was hiking one morning when the title of this newsletter popped into my head.
I can’t say that I’m a Clint Eastwood fan, but I do like some of his movies and there was an interview I saw with him and I was impressed with who he at least appears to be with an audience. The one thing he said that really struck me was that he never intended to retire and I think in that moment I fell in love with him a little bit.
I was raised in an anything but boring household, but what was boring about my upbringing was the majority rules programming I encountered and was ultimately brainwashed by. Go to school, get a job, get married, buy a house, and have kids. I remember how much I actually resisted parts of this.
When I think about it, I was never really encouraged to Take My Own Big Leap and do something I really wanted to do, something I actually loved.
My father had an entrepreneurial gene desire and he did Take the Big Leap and opened an art gallery and a frame shop, but ultimately the gallery lost its lease and was moved to a far more remote location. The frame shop actually made money, but he had to sell that to payoff what was owed on the gallery. Fortunately, he went on to thrive.
So here I sit, on the edge of the cliff of Taking My Own Big Leap and moving into my life as an entrepreneur and I’m both excited and scared. The scared part is from the moments of doubt. Doubt about my ability to really thrive and succeed. Fortunately, I have surrounded myself with entrepreneurs and like minded people to keep my keeping on.
